FLU VACCINATIONS

      Vaccines are available by appointment only & face coverings must be worn

 

If you meet the following vaccination criteria please call the surgery after 11am on 01283 741920 to arrange an appointment

 

Eligible: All patients aged 65 years and over plus those with chronic respiratory disease, asthmatics requiring continuous or repeated use of inhaled or systemic steroids, chronic heart disease, chronic kidney disease, chronic liver disease, chronic neurological disease, diabetes, immunosuppression, pregnant women, people living in long-stay residential care homes or other long-stay care facilities, carers, morbidly obese (BMI of 40 or over) and those previously identified at high risk from Covid (shielding patients) and their families/household members

 

Please note that people in the 50-64-year old age group will not be vaccinated until November and December, providing there is sufficient vaccine, and no appointments will be offered for this age group until then. This is to ensure that those who are most at risk are vaccinated first. 

 

Please cancel your appointment if you have been told to self-isolate, or if you or anyone in your household has recent onset of any of the following symptoms an instead call 119 to arrange a Covid test:

  • a high temperature
  • a loss of, or change in normal sense of smell or taste (anosmia)
  • a new and continuous cough – even if it’s mild



Join a COVID-19 clinical trial

The PRINCIPLE trial aims to find treatments that reduce hospital admission and improve symptoms for people with COVID-19. You could be eligible to join if

  • You have had these symptoms for fewer than 15 days:
    • a continuous new or worsening cough
    • a high temperature
  • You are aged 50 to 64 with a pre-existing illness
  • You are aged 65 and above

Everyone Health

Staffordshire County Council run a service called Everyone Health. Normally this is available to those aged 50 and above but, for anyone at risk of social isolation during the Covid-19 crisis, the minimum age has dropped to 18. Please phone: 03330 050 095 or email: eh.staffs@nhs.net to self refer. Programmes include telephone bingo, virtual exercise, telephone book clubs, quiz and puzzle groups, food tip and recipe groups, telephone chat groups and poetry groups.
